The Truth Behind the Media Coverage
About the False Statements of Secret Witnesses

ADNAN OKTAR: … For one thing, we were acquitted on all the reports published in that paper. That is highly significant. The Uskudar Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor gave a verdict of non-prosecution for the claims made by the plaintiffs and secret witnesses under investigation number 2008/1211. One. That decision was confirmed by the Kadıkoy High Criminal Court No 1 on 15.01.2008. The Kadıkoy High Criminal Court ruled that the allegations were unfounded, a slander, and acquitted us. It confirmed the verdict of non-prosecution. The same file had also been examined by Istanbul Prosecution Office with Special Authorities (formerly the State Security Court). File number 2007/3026. On 13.12.2007 the Prosecution gave a verdict of non-prosecution. There is no such case.

That ruling was also approved by Ankara High Criminal Court No. 11, or the State Security Court. File no: 2008/3007. In other words, the High Criminal Court, the State Security Court, ruled that we should be acquitted. Related to these verdicts, below decisions were made:

Uskudar Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor’s verdict of non-prosecution of the investigation file No. 2007/ 6120... So how can there be these reports in the face of all that? The courts are the most eminent institutions of state, one of the state’s most highly esteemed institutions. The prosecutor’s office investigates, the Security Department investigates, and it is all brought to the court in a highly detailed form. The prosecutor’s office decides not to proceed and the Serious Crime Court confirms that, and rules on acquittal. We see that in the same way at the SSC. The defendant comes to the SSC and the SSC prosecutor says he is innocent. And he is acquitted. So how can these reports still be issued?

ADNAN OKTAR: … For example, the court ruling that acquitted me in the case concerning Ebru Simsek was not reflected in the press. For years, the press carried the accusation by Ebru Simsek for years. But they said nothing about it when the High Criminal Court acquitted me. And that acquittal came with such strong evidence. Because there is a huge difference between a hollow block ceiling and a joisted one. The expert said such a thing would be impossible without tearing down the old building and putting up a new one. And since the house was not demolished... The windows in my house run from floor to ceiling, while those in Ebru Simsek are very small and double glazed. The apartment is also very small, just 60 or 70 square meters. But my house is in the Italian style and the windows stretch from floor to ceiling, so it has a totally different structure. Everyone was there – expert witnesses, judges, lawyers. A double screen was put up and the matter made clear, and confirmed by witness statements. And the High Criminal Court acquitted me, in a lengthy reasoned opinion based on plentiful evidence in the Ebru Simsek case. The press never mentioned that. That is really very odd.

For years it was claimed that I was mentally ill. But they never wrote about how the military hospital issued a report saying I was completely healthy in mind and body. But for years they told people I was mentally ill and not to read books by or access the web sites of a mentally ill person. But they said not a word when the initial report was rejected. In addition, the forensic medicine department, the senior body, overturned that report about me. The Forensic Medicine Department issued a report saying I was sound in mind and body. But, as you know, they kept me chained by the foot in a mental hospital for 10 months, during which time 7 inmates were killed. They killed 7 people in that mental hospital. I was held there because it was an ideal place for people to be killed in at that time. Look, I underline that. They put me somewhere ideally suited for people to be killed in, even though that knew that mental patients committed murders and they had seen them commit murders, and they put me in among mental patients who had been convicted of murder. But nobody was interested. That is also something extraordinary.

They mixed cocaine with my food when I was detained in the security headquarters, under the protection of the state. The Forensic Medicine Department proved that. Forensics issued a report saying it has been put in my food. And I was again acquitted. It is really disgraceful how they still use the same methods against me in such a shameless atmosphere. The press should look into that. Such things happening to me today may happen to someone else tomorrow. The logic of failing to follow it up because the person involved is anti-Darwinist, anti-Marxist, anti-communist or anti-fascist is wrong. They should have the courage to stand up with genuine facts and evidence. This is how some circles imagine they can overcome the pain of their defeat in Haberturk TV.

Look at the magazine Bilim ve Gelecek (Science and Future) and it says, “Evolution Is on the March,” “A Response to Creationist Nonsense.” There is even a cartoon of me. I have set them out in front of me and am chasing them away. They are looking very sweetly. What does that mean? It means that I have demolished this nonsense. Evolution is on the march, but where to? To a dead-end, to collapse. They refer to “a response to creationist realities,” but that is something else. If they have the courage let them come and debate the issue. There is a saying that a beaten wrestler still can’t get enough of wrestling, and they have been defeated time and time again in the same way.

JOURNALIST: I am a journalist and I take a close interest in you and your work. But you have to date been on the agenda with issues of this kind. Ebru Simsek... that was one issue. Is there a special reason why you appear on the agenda with issues of this kind? Why are you always on the agenda because of this kind of issue? You engage in all your activities, but why do you never appear before the public with them?

ADNAN OKTAR: Yes, excellent. For example, 1986. What could have the greatest impact on the public, really touch a nerve? What could have the greatest shock impact on the public? Someone being mentally ill. If someone is mentally ill, he should be avoided and no credence should be attached to his words. Isn’t that right? What needs to be done? That person must be declared to be mentally ill. So what do they do? They put that person among mental patients who have killed other people. Did they put me in a mental hospital because I was mentally ill? Were the cocaine allegations made about me made because I used cocaine? If there is a psychological war going on, then those areas on which the public are most sensitive are selected. And what is society most sensitive to now? Sexuality. Why was such an allegation made against the Prophet Yusuf? Did not women come together and make similar allegations about the Prophet Yusuf? Was he not held in prison for seven years, accused of being oversexed, trying to force himself onto women and to rape one woman? Whatever was done to the Prophet Yusuf is also done to Muslims.

Said Nursi was an immaculate individual. But when he was 75 years old, the immoral, base and shameless people of the time actually accused him of adultery. They said, “He brings lewd women to his home at night, and raki (alcohol drink) comes delivered in crates.” What Said Nursi had on his wall was a sack of yogurt, a sack of rice, a bed… Someone who had difficulty in speaking, someone who was totally innocent and upstanding. He had no worldly desires and spent 30 years in prison. What business can a 75-year-old have with prostitutes? Was that allegation made because he had actually done that? That was what touched the nerves of the people of the time. That was what affected people. Said Nursi says that they persecuted him in all kinds of ways, not all of which he talked about. But he says he still has no ill-will for them. I have also given them my blessing thousands of times, even those who put me into the mental asylum, who carried out the cocaine conspiracy and tortured me in police custody.

As you know, they crippled many of my colleagues in ’99. Most were crippled. They were tortured really severely. They were tortured for 7 days. I was also tortured, but I did not make a sound, I did not tell anyone. They gave me electric shocks and I was tortured in various ways, but I said nothing. I made no legal complaints. They crippled my colleagues, and their families obliged them to complain because they had been crippled. Otherwise they had no intentions of complaining. They were crippled when they were still young. This is a requirement of psychological warfare. Psychological warfare knows no rules. There is no conscience or fear of Allah in psychological warfare, and it is utterly ruthless. The alleged Ergenekon organization has a special psy-ops unit. And you can clearly see the activities the alleged Ergenekon organization engaged in against us in the records. There is a special unit for dealing with us. A separate one for the Internet, and another for dealing by means of the press... They talk about how to launch false allegations. These discussions are established by the police. They talk about how to slander us, Muslims. How it is to be done... If necessary, use women, they say. You must issue slanders, they say.

They say that all methods of wearing the enemy down psychologically are legitimate and justified. They describe that. The great majority of those who tortured us are now inside. The whole team. And these are in the state records. Psychological warfare therefore recognizes no bounds and uses all means. They can easily use poor people, people with no money. Do you think one who can find a man to kill me cannot find a man to slander me? Nine armed attempts have been made on my life. Nine attempts using weapons. On one occasion people came wearing ski masks. I went to another house. My friend got lost and we went to another house. We went to another friend’s house. When I was at that house, the other one was raided by men wearing ski masks. An armed raid. And they took that friend’s money. But I still asked them to be forgiven. They were young, and I did not want them to rot in prison. The police detained them but we had them released. Because armed robbery is a serious offense. But if I had gone inside they would have killed me. They themselves said that. They set an armed ambush for me before my home in Ortaköy. Allah saved me then, too. And they did that for money. The person does not want to kill me just for the sake of entertainment. They take money from some families. Some families, Sabaean families, Masonic families, or families that have not broken away from the alleged Ergenekon organization are carrying these activities out together now. The alleged Ergenekon organization does not choose any family. It chooses the most appropriate ones, and people who need money. They choose poor people, needy people, people from the illicit world. But I nevertheless forgive them all. Those young women who complained about me, I still regard them as sisters, as Muslims. I forgive them.

I am in the business of love, affection, compassion and forgiveness. I want all the weapons in the world to be eliminated. I want peace and brotherhood. I want an end to terror. I have no hatred for anyone. My brothers are very pure. We have never engaged in any such activities. No violence and no pressure on people. We have never engaged in any physical violence, and never will. I am someone who feels a great affection for animals, human beings, plants as entities created by Allah. That is a command of the Qur’an. I look at people with affection and compassion. Those people did those things because it was in their destinies. They slandered me because they were destined to. Allah gave them the means to do so. Allah also produced the court acquittal. If He so willed, Almighty Allah would not ensure acquittal. He could have had us thrown into prison, and I would be most willing and proud to go to jail.

For example, it is Almighty Allah Who has brought you all together here and Who is having me talk to you. Allah is having me speak every word, and Allah is making you ask your question. There is nothing that Allah does not have dominion over. Allah is everywhere. He says, I seek refuge with Allah from satan, that He is closer to us than our jugular veins. We are in the End Times, the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as). We will see the love and compassion of Hazrat Mahdi (as). And we will see the compassion of the lovely and beautiful Prophet Jesus. They will teach us love. We are their poor students. How I would love to be the dust under the feet of the Prophet Jesus and Hazrat Mahdi (as). Insha’Allah we can be their followers.

I have no desire for any rank or position. Let me make that clear. Reports to that effect appear from time to time. I make no claim to be Hazrat Mahdi (as), and I am just a poor servant of Allah. Neither do I want anyone else to make such a claim. I will strongly reject it and issue my own statement with the Qur’an. And I have sworn, and now swear in the name of Allah, that I make no such claim during my lifetime. I fear Allah. But of course I want Islam to rule the world, I want the Turkish-Islamic Union, I want us to be a great state and for us to live in peace. This fear must vanish. Our nation, our people, cannot look one another in the face. They either slander or defame one another day and night. The prisons are full to bursting. I feel very sorry for our people. I want our people to live in peace and freedom. I feel uncomfortable when leftists are arrested, too, and it gives me no pleasure. The members of the alleged Ergenekon organization are on remand in Silivri, and I feel pain and discomfort for them all. I do not say what a good thing that is.

JOURNALIST: Forgive me. I have heard that a lot went on with Adil Serdar Sacan during the times you were detained. Do you forgive him, too?

ADNAN OKTAR: Look, they took me to Adil Serdar Sacan’s office, blindfolded and with my hands tied. They kept me sitting on the concrete for 7 days, with no sleep. Anyone who fell asleep they would wake up again. My head was about to burst. It was that bad. He told me to look at the floor and my feet. He said I was as close to death as my feet were to the floor. He told me to bear that in mind. Who knows? They could have said I killed myself in custody. That happened at the Security Department, as you know. He killed himself, and that was that. He might have actually killed himself, or he might not. You have no evidence or witnesses. If they said someone threw himself out of the window, that is it. How can you prove it? I told them that I would do whatever they told me to. Yet I was still subjected to severe torture. Really severe torture. I never told anyone. My colleagues sued because they had been crippled by torture. At such a young age. Young girls. They sprained one’s back and dislocated another’s arm. They were left in a terrible state. We were all given electric shocks, myself included. They committed really severe torture. Under these circumstances, they asked whether I was the leader of a criminal organization, and I said I was. They asked if I had carried out the blood sample campaign, and I said I had. They made me say things about women I had never even met. They asked if I had done these things, and I admitted that I had. It was not possible not to. It was all rehearsed several times, and then they sat me down in front of the camera, I knew that there was a hidden camera, and told me to say the same things again. I related it all over again and they proudly broadcast it on the television. Look how he is singing like a canary, they said. But what other way out is there if you are administered that many electric shocks and torture and threatened with death, and if you want to spare other people?

And we had no lawyers with us. Our statements were taken in the absence of lawyers. And terrible duress, the kind of torture that you cannot possibly imagine. But this is a feature of people passionately devoted to a cause. There is no paradise without hardship. No approval from Allah without hardship. The Companions’ faces were all cut up and they were maddened by their love for Allah. I am also maddened by my love for Allah, insha’Allah.

JOURNALIST: Do you forgive them?

ADNAN OKTAR: Of course. I have no complaints about anyone. You will not see me complaining anywhere. I see images of them being brought in and out, and I am horrified, really uneasy. For example, it is reported that these people had to take turns in bed and that made me very sorry for them and uneasy. I do not know the man personally, but I do not want any of my fellow citizens to suffer.

Let us be free. Let us smile at and love one another. Let us greet one another on the streets. Nobody can look anyone in the face on the streets now. I often go outside. I used not to, because I received many death threats, but I can go out now since the situation has eased. I want there to be joy on their faces. Something. Look at flowers, or children. There are lovely little children but nobody takes any notice. People look at one another with icy, fearful faces. That must stop. Let us turn this country into a paradise and let us live in joy. Let us be happy and joyous. Thanks be to Allah, we have everything, and an extremely lovely country. But people are slandering one another day and night, and we have to deal with these things.

JOURNALIST: Excuse me. I am asking on behalf of colleagues, but I am really curious about you. Are you really powerful enough to tear down the existing regime? Or do you do other things outside the regime? My first question is why they keep putting you in the public eye because of immoral women tapes. My second question is whether those of your colleagues alongside you have never made a false move on this matter.

ADNAN OKTAR: These are young people, of course. People with very comfortable lives on the outside and who had formerly flirted and such. But once they came to me they became punctilious about what is lawful and unlawful. Of course I am not saying they became saints and prophets. Of course they may make mistakes. We all may. Is there any human being without error, apart from the prophets? We cannot even say that Hazrat Mahdi (as) is completely immaculate. He is immaculate in judgment but not sinless. The Prophet Jesus (as) is immaculate. But that is impossible in normal people, and goes against the Qur’an.

JOURNALIST: These kinds of things befall you and your colleagues. Other people are not so much the subjects of such accusations or claims. They all concern you. Have you or your colleagues really not made any serious mistakes when we turn back and look at all this?

ADNAN OKTAR: Look, the other day they brought out Cubbeli Ahmet, and were rolling round on the floor laughing because he is not a threat. He is not a threat to communism, fascism, Darwinism, materialism and satanism. On the contrary, he is far more acceptable to them. He is someone they can crush with ease. Because he has no power to strike a blow against Darwinism and materialism using science and philosophy. He has a few classic characteristics, and a poor appearance and manner of speaking. You saw how entertaining they found him on that day, they split their sides with laughter, far more than at any regular comedy or entertainment show, which means he really amused them. When they see me their blood runs cold. And do you know why? One professor sets it out very well. He says that while you lot are preoccupied with the headscarf issue, he is burrowing away and undermining the current regime. Do you know what he means by regime? Not the established state regime. He means the alleged Ergenekon organization. He means the communist organization. Because when I struck at Darwinism and materialism, they collapsed like a house of cards. The reason for the impoverished state of the alleged Ergenekon organization today is its ideological collapse. It was not demolished and brought to its present state by judicial means. It collapsed ideologically. That is what lies at the root of these people’s wretched condition. They admit their defeat and are truly wretched and shattered. Look, we demolished them with a single blow. Knocked them down with a single blow. By the will of Allah a tremendous power emerged. They are winded and unable to oppose me.

Look, I have also issued a call to Dawkins. He debates with primary and middle school children, with priests and rabbis, but he says he will not debate with me. He will not debate with me because, by Allah’s leave, he will inevitably lose. That is why communists, fascists and especially Freemasons have to be allied against an idea that destroys communism and fascism. I have destroyed the religion of Freemasonry that dates back thousands of years. I have for the first time demolished the Darwinist religion that comes from the Sumerians, from ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, with scholarly and logical evidence, philosophical concrete evidence and the evidence of the Qur’an. And that has come as a damning blow to them. They are unable to swallow it, they are at a loss what to do. But if I were an ordinary imam from a mosque and just preached day and night, they would just kiss me on the head and there would be no problem. Moreover, if I were an irreligious man, a Darwinist and materialist, and did all the same things they allege of me, they would be pretty impressed and say how red-blooded I was. The newspapers are full of praise for such types. They praise people who change their partners or girlfriends all the time like putting on a new shirt. That is really admired. For example, someone strikes all kinds of poses on the beach, then they describe how he held a party that evening with his new friend or whatever. Everyone knows what goes on at such parties. Everyone knows what immorality, what vulgarity, what shameful and dishonorable behavior people in high society – not all, and my apologies to those others of them, but some of them – get up to. But if you notice, one part of the press takes a real pride in describing all that. If I were a Darwinist and materialist, such activities would make me their golden boy. But because I say there is one Allah and because I have smashed the idols of Darwinism and materialism, they seek for the man who attacks their idols. But they can do what they like, it matters not a jot to me. They can tie a noose around my neck, and that of my colleagues, that will never make us give in, insha’Allah. Go ahead.

JOURNALIST: Can we infer from your words that it was you who exposed Ergenekon?

ADNAN OKTAR: Let me put it this way. I dearly love the state and am its helper. I am not saying that I exposed the alleged Ergenekon organization, because it exposed itself with millions of separate pieces of evidence. They were so convinced they were untouchable and above the state that they filled sacks with documents and spoke shamefully and confidently on the telephone because they were sure they had taken over the state. There was therefore no need for me to help the state, as they had already brought themselves down. But notice how our state has begun returning to its old days of glory and, insha’Allah, you will see us as leader of the Turkish-Islamic Union. If what I am saying does not happen in 10 or 20 years’ time, then come and reproach me with it. But we will be the greatest state, insha’Allah. We will lead the whole Middle East and the Balkans, insha’Allah. We will lead the entire Islamic and Turkish worlds. We will be the leader of all the Turanian states. That is our inescapable destiny, as you will see. But I am a loyal servant of the state and will not allow it to be impugned. We will keep striving until we make a unitary, patriotic and laic Turkey the leader of the world, insha’Allah. Until Great Turkey emerges, insha’Allah.
